Remarks: The L129 Colombian zebra pleco is a smaller species of Hypancistrus and a good introduction to the genus as they have proven to be fairly hardy compared to their relatives. As their common name entails, they are native to Colombia, specifically the Rio Bita and the Rio Meta. They are a very nice looking species with their dark brown or black bodies covered in off-white or yellow stripes. As is typical of their genus, L129 Colombian zebra plecos are mostly carnivorous and like to live in groups. However, they do sometimes quarrel over territory so lots of caves and space should be provided. If this is done and they are kept in the right parameters, you will mostly likely be rewarded with regular spawns as they are very willing to breed in the aquarium.
