Remarks: The L090 papa lyretail pleco is a large-sized, wood-eating pleco that is found in turbulent waters in Peru. In addition to eating microorganisms growing on the surface of wood, they also appreciate vegetables such as zucchini or cucumber. They have patterns typical of large Panaque species such as Royal Plecos, but with the addition of red-orange caudal fins that have long trailers. While typically docile and 150 gallons can be enough to house one L090 papa lyretail pleco, they can become territorial toward conspecifics as they grow. Due to this behavior and their immense size, a larger tank with plenty of hiding places should be provided if one wants to attempt to keep them with with other plecos.
