Remarks: Honey Gouramis are known to be the smallest and most peaceful of the Trichogaster genus. Males are yellow or orange with their ventral fin turning black when in breeding dress. Females are typically gray with a brown lateral stripe and a blue ventral fin.
Like others in their genus, Honey Gouramis (Trichogaster chuna) have a specialized breathing organ called a labyrinth allows these fish to take oxygen directly from the atmosphere. They are well adapted to sluggish water with plenty of plants to provide cover. In an aquarium, they prefer slow-moving water with gentle tankmates, such as small schooling fish and small catfish.
